| 2112 |
Jonathan Archer is born to Henry Archer in San Frnacisco, Earth. |
| 2119 |
The pioneer of warp propulsion, Zefram Cochrane, opens the warp 5 complex, where a team of engineers headed by Jonathan's father plans to construct a new generation of warp drive which will allow humanity to reach thousands of new worlds within a fracture of time that would be needed with current warp technology. Jonathan is highly impressed by the event and the goal to build this new class of starships; two years later, when he builds an anti-grav propelled model starship with his father, he knows Cochrane's inauguration speech by heart. Both men become some sort of idols for him and influence his later goals and views in life: his fascination for space travel, exploring strange new worlds and advancing the frontier of human knowledge as well as his deep conviction that Man can fulfil his dreams and reach anything if he just tries hard enough. |
|
Archer's dad Henry dies long before the work on the warp 5 engine, let alone the NX class prototype starship it will be used in, is finished. Jonathan blames the Vulcans, especially their Earth Ambassador Soval, who's around on Earth since at least the 2120s, for this tragic development. Given that in Archer's view the Vulcans have impeded Henry Archer's efforts to develop the warp 5 engine as well as the human space program in general, and prevented the human pioneers of exploration from leaving their solar system to venture into deep space, he is developing a deep grudge against the species which he feels has spoon fed the humans, treated them like childs and kept them from standing on their own feet and make progress for decades. |
| 2137-40 |
Archer joins the newly founded human organization for space exploration, Earth Star Fleet, and attend the standard 3 year training program. |
| 2143 |
Archer meets Charles Tucker for the first time, a fellow Starfleet officer and devoted starship engineer. The two will eventually become close friends. |
| 2147 |
Strengthening their friendship, Archer's life is saved by "Trip" Tucker. |
| 2151 |

When a Klingon vessel, chased by hostile Suliban, crashes on Earth and the attack on its pilot causes a diplomatic incident, Archer, now a Star Fleet captain who hasn't had too much space experience as he spent much time in supervising the construction of the NX class and the completion of his father's work on the warp 5 engine, smells a chance to finally get Star Fleet - and the Vulcans - to launch the vessel christened "Enterprise" and start their mission of deep space exploration. When Vulcans react in the known reserved way and Star Fleet is about to defer to their judgement, Archer presses on and convinces the head of the fleet, Admiral Forrest, to allow him to take the Klingon back home. |
|
The end of a risky mission full of ups and downs is a successful handover of the Klingon pilot on his homeworld Q'onoS, where a first formal first contact with the Klingon species takes place. Thanks to Archer's efforts, his willingness to risk everything and not at least his curiosity, Star Fleet finds out about the Suliban's intentions and the involvement of a mysterious enemy from the future who intends to tamper with the time line. |
|
Due to this impressive outcome, and the first chance to give information to the Vulcans and not vice versa, Star Fleet Command allows Archer and his crew to continue their historic mission. |
