Inside Trek Outtakes Star Trek screen saver
The following files are audio recordings of the one and only Great Bird of the Galaxy, the Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry himself who died in 1991. This contemporary documents, recordet between 1974 and 1976 during the early Star Trek conventions or especially for the LP "Inside Star Trek", shed light on Gene Roddenberry's past, his true motifs and intentions with Star Trek, and they clarify the difficulties the Star Trek producer got into in the struggle with the networks, when he tried to push through his intelligent vision.

Outtakes are filmed scenes never included in the ultimately published episodes, in which the actors have forgotten their text, make jokes or have ruined the shot for other reasons ;) Years ago an one and a half minute long recording of outtakes (in mediocre quality) from the early Voyager seasons reached the net, which is now avaiable here again.

In the early 1990s, when almost no (high quality) Star Trek games were avaiable, there was one cult: the Afterdark screen saver modules, and here particularly the special edition for fans of the Original Series, which contained - instead of the legendary "flying toasters" - flying neural parasites (from the TOS episode "Operation: Annihilate!"), tribbles, alien plants, Kirk on the bridge and many other amusing modules. This edition, released in 1992, hasn't been avaiable anymore for many years, but can now be downloaded here. Please pay attention to the user notes, which are also avaiable in the archive itself, which you should unpack into a temporary folder with checked option "use subfolder information". Installation and testing of the program are done within your own responsibility (I didn't encounter any problems), whereby you of course have to take into account that the modules - although they still run properly and have a high cult factor - cannot be used as actual, automatically launching screensaver anymore.

The avaiable audio files are selections from the LP "Inside Star Trek with Gene Roddenberry" from 1976, re-published on CD in 1998, as a bundle with the Star Trek: The Motion Picture soundtrack called "20th Anniversairy Collector's Edition". The chosen tracks, however, were recorded in only a quarter CD quality (48 kbps) and cropped in their length. To enjoy the complete 18 tracks in full CD quality, place purchase the mentioned CD. All copyrights are the property of the respective holders and Paramount Pictures.
The After Dark Star Trek Edition is published here because of the fact that it isn't avaiable anymore for many years (produced in 1992) and does not work without restrictions and for the original purpose (automatically launching screen saver) under current operating systems (Windows 98, ME, XP) anymore.
