Description
The Katurians, an appreciated member of the United Federation of Planets for many years, are a very humanoid  species which nonetheless has several inner and outer physical peculiarities, even though the Katurians are not as alien as the hostile Ktarians, who have an identically sounding name. The basic appearance of the tall species is human; however, even on cursory examination the cranial ridges on the forehead stand out, and a closer check-up reveals the scales on some parts of the body. The Katurian tongue, palate and pharynx are apparently more sophisticated than the human ones, since they are capable of articulating the for humans nearly unpronounceable Katurian names. However, there are greater differences in other fields. The Katurian life cycle, for instance,  considerably differs. With 18 months, the gestation period is nearly twice as long as the human one. On the other hand, a Katurian child also develops twice as fast as a human child - physically as well as mentally. Nevertheless, Katurians and humans are very similiar in their life styles and social structures; the Katurian animal and vegetable food, particularly  the sweet dishes, is popular among humans as well as other humanoid species. In the end, many Katurians live on Earth in the 24th century, while Katurus itself, a planet with temperate climate, and friendly living conditions for the most part, is a preferred destination of human beings.
