2350s The USS Thunderchild, an Akira class starship, is comissioned.

2373 Stardate 50825.7 As a part of the defensive fleet of the Federation, the USS Thunderchild tries to stop the Borg cube invading Federation space. She is involved in the attack in the Typhon sector as well as in Sector 001, where they finally succeed in destroying the cube.
