| Stardate 48315.6 |
The Voyager arrives at Deep Space Nine for her first mission: the search for a maquis vessel, which is missing in the Badlands. Lt. Tuvok, Captain Janeway's tactical officer, is aboard the ship as an undercover agent. |
| Stardate 48317 |
Like the Maquis ship, as soon as Voyager has reached the Badlands, it is hit by a displacement wave and taken to the Delta Quadrant by an alien being called the Caretaker. During this voyage of 75,000 light years in a matter of seconds,Voyager is heavily damaged; many officers in key positions die, among them the first officer, the medical officer, the transporter chief and the chief engineer. When arrived in the upper part of the Delta Quadrant, the entire crew is abducted to the array of the Caretaker for medical examination. Since the Caretaker does not find a biologically compatible being for reproduction, he sends both crews back to their ships. However, two members of both crews are missing; they have been brought to the nearby Ocampa homeworld. |
|
After the missing officers have been freed, Captain Janeway orders the destruction of the array of the dying Caretaker with tri-cobalt devices in order to ensure that the Kazon-Ogla, a sect of the powerful nomadic race of the Kazon, does not use its sophisticated technology to destroy the Ocampa, the people which has been supplied by the Caretaker. Consequently, both ships are stranded in the Delta Quadrant. |
|
Since Voyager has to fly 70 years with maximum speed to arrive home, the some 40 crew members of the maquis ship join the Voyager crew. The Maquis ship is destroyed during the battle against the Kazon, which have a hostile attitude towards Voyager after the destruction of the Caretaker array. |
