The holodeck game

According to the Star Trek Dimension LCARS database, Velocity is a physically and strategically sophisticated successor of the simple phaser aim exercise, with 2 players on the holodeck, the playing field of the game, who try in 10 following rounds to protect themselves from a holographically generated, flying disc with their hand phasers, and, on the other hand, to direct this disc to the opponent. Physical condition, skills and reactions are important, as well as intelligence, strategy and intuition. Every Velocity round starts with the initial placement of the players: they are facing each other in the center of the room. One player gets the color red, the other blue. After the starting signal, the computer materializes a disc in the middle of the room, coincidentally choosing one player. The edge color of the disc indicates which player is the current aim of the disc. Those player has to evade the sphere and try to hit it with his phaser. If he suceeds, the disc takes the color of the opponent and now attacks him. When one of the players is touched by the sphere, because he couldn't direct it to the opponent in the nick of time, he loses the round. After ten such rounds, the game ends. The winner of the game is those player who has won the most rounds.

The PC version

As of now, the Star Trek Dimension exclusively offers a two-dimensional version of the game for Windows 95/98 for free download. The playing field and the fully-animated playing figures were rendered. Authentic Velocity sounds from the episode, as well as a spectacular remix of the Voyager main theme, guarantee a realistic playing fun. A freely scalable difficulty level favors the beginners as well as hotshots - the game remains a continuous, ultimate challenge for the reactions. Click on a picture to enlarge it.
