Quotes
Here are my favorite quotes from the pilot.
Tucker: "You aiming to sit on the hull and pose for some postcards?"
Cmd. Tucker reaction when Captain Archer is concerned of the painting of the hull
Archer: "Great. You scratched the paint."
...after the inspection pod bumped into the hull when Tucker was inattentive for a moment
Admiral Leonard: "He's a Klingot."
The Admiral about the strange alien lying in the sickbay of Starfleet Medical
Admiral Leonard: "Volatile? You have no idea how much I'm restraining myself from knocking you on your ass."
Archer's reaction on T'Pol's assessment of mankind
Admiral Forrest: "Don't screw this up."
The chief of Starfleet stresses the importance of the mission
Tucker: "Keep your shirt on, Lieutenant. Your equipment'll be here in the morning."
The chief engineer's reaction on Reed's concern that he won't be ready in time
T'Pol: "My reason for being here is not espionage. My superiors simply asked me to assist you." Archer: "Your superiors don't think we can flush a toilet without one of you to 'assist' us."
T'Pol reports for duty - on Archer's ship
Admiral Forrest: "When Zefram Cochrane made his legendary warp flight ninety years ago... and drew the attention of our new friends, the Vulcans, we realized that we weren't alone in the galaxy. Today we're about to cross a new threshold. For nearly a century, we've waded ankle-deep in the ocean of space... now it's finally time to swim."
The historic speech starting the first mission of the Enterprise
Zefram Cochrane: "On this site, a powerful engine will be built... an engine that will some day let us travel a hundred times faster than we can today. Imagine it. Thousands of inhabited planets at our fingertips. And we'll be able to explore those strange new worlds... and seek out new life and new civilizations. This engine will let us go boldly... where no man has gone before."
The even more historic speech held during the Warp 5 Complex dedication ceremony 32 years ago
Dr. Phlox: "If you're going to try to embrace new worlds... you must try to embrace new ideas. That's why the Vulcans initiated the Interspecies Medical Exchange... there's a lot to be learned!"
Phlox reassure the captain that the use of the droppings of Altarian marsupials is nothing unusual
Dr. Phlox: "There's a chance he'll be conscious within the next ten minutes... just not a very good one."
Phlox when being asked when the Klingon will regain consciousness
Tucker: "I've heard the women on Draylax have..." Mayweather: "Three... it's true." Tucker: "You know that first-hand?" Mayweather: "First-hand, second-hand... and third-hand."
A little talk between the commander and the "space boomer" in zero G
T'Pol: "You humans claim to be enlightened, yet you still consume the flesh of animals. Tucker: "Grandma taught me never to judge a species by their eating habits.
Tucker and T'Pol have dinner with the captain
Dr. Phlox: "Excuse me. His pre-frontal cortex is hyperstimulated... I doubt he has any idea what he's saying." Hoshi: "I think the Doctor's right, Captain...unless 'stinky boots' has something to do with all this."
Hoshi finally realizes why what the Klingon she translates doesn't make any sense
Archer: "Do you know how to tell him to shut up?" Hoshi (screams at the Klingon): "SHUT UP!"
Hoshi's take on the Klingon language
Archer: "I didn't lose the Klingon... he was taken. And I'm going to find out who took him." T'Pol: "How do you plan to do that? Space is very big, Captain... a shadow on your sensors won't help you find them. This is a foolish mission." Archer: "I'm not interested in what you think about this mission. So take your Vulcan cynicism and bury it along with your repressed emotions."
Archer and T'Pol have a little quarrel regarding the future of the mission
Archer: "How can you be so damn sure what our sensors can do?" T'Pol: "Vulcan children play with toys that are more sophisticated."
T'Pol and Tucker work "together"
Hoshi: "Are you sure it's safe to stand so close to that?"
Hoshi faces her arch-enemy - the warp engine
Archer: "You forgot to warn us about drinking the water." T'Pol: "Doctor Phlox isn't concerned with the food and water. But he does caution against intimate contact."
T'Pol doesn't get the joke when they prepare for landing on Rigel X
Hoshi: "T'Pol said something about 'live' food. I don't see any restaurants..."
Hoshi don't quite get it that they were talking about living food
