Stardate 22519.5	The USS Brattain is commissioned in the 40 Eridani-A Fleet Yards, where she has been constructed.

August	Under the command of Captain Chantal Zaheva, the USS Brattain gets into a Tyken rift, where undiscovered a ship of an unknown, powerful species is hidden. Due to their telepathic communication, the crew members  accidentally becomes paranoid and kills each other. Only the scientific consultant Andrus Hagen survives.
Stardate 44631.2	Searching for the Brattain, the USS Enterprise-D gets into the rift as well, and the same symptoms occur. However, the crew succeeds in contacting the alien starship, and they can free all three ships from the rift by venting hydrogen, which reacts with an unknown material that has be released by the strangers.
	The USS Brattain is towed to Starbase 220 by the Enterprise, where the ship will be repaired and a recommissioned with a new crew.
